Art Club

Mission / Purpose: Lanier Art Club promotes imagination, creativity, and art production. Our club is open to any student who wants to explore various art and craft forms, try out new mediums, practice specific techniques, and develop their unique style. It provides students with the opportunity to work individually or in collaboration with other student artists.
Descriptions of Planned Activities: Lanier Art Club members can choose drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking, jewelry-making, or other creative processes to produce unique works of Art. Members will participate in community art events throughout the year.

Beta Club

Sponsors: Rebekah Spratlin & Melissa Hayes
Activities: Service projects chosen by the Beta Club
Mission: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among middle school students. To reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school. Meetings will begin, on Thursdays, after Labor Day.
Requirements: Must maintain all A's and B's and consistently demonstrate positive behavior. Grades and behavior will be checked at the end of each semester. A probationary period may be enacted until improvement is observed.

How do I join?: Attend the first meeting on September 4th at 8:15am in Ms. Spratlin's room on the 7th grade floor. If you are unable to attend, please email both sponsors below.

Drama Club

Sponsor: Jordan Davis & Kimberly Guillory
Mission/Purpose
The purpose of Drama Club is to encourage students to think outside the box, push individual boundaries, and become more confident performers. Members will improve their social skills and develop leadership skills. They will also become more adept at collaboration.
Description of Planned Activities
We will put on two performances throughout the school year. Students will have the opportunity to audition for and perform in these shows. We will also take technical theater students throughout the year to help with our performances.

Members are asked to pay $40 annual dues for Drama Club.
The Lanier Junior Theater Company is an extension of the Lanier High School Theater Company.
When the Drama Club is putting on a show, students will be required to meet more often for rehearsals.
Engage - Youth Government

ENGAGE Youth in Government exists to equip future civic leaders with the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to excel in government and serve the public good.

Esports

Mission/Purpose:
Lanier To build an inclusive and friendly community where students can connect, compete, and have fun through a shared passion for gaming. To provide a fun and positive space for students to practice teamwork, develop skills, and learn good sportsmanship through the games of Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. To foster friendship and fun through friendly competition.

FCA | Ignite Club

Activities - Local church youth ministers/students will present a message to all attendees. We also have breakfast and play some games.
Mission: Student driven and student-initiated club-- LMS students gather to learn more about and develop a growing relationship with Christ as they encourage one another.
Affiliated with: Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fishing Club

Sponsors: Ms. McClure, Ms. Janowski
Mission: The Lanier Middle School Fishing Club empowers students to discover the art and science of angling while cultivating leadership, environmental responsibility, and personal growth. By immersing students in hands-on fishing experiences and introducing pathways to careers in the outdoors, conservation, and competitive sports, we build confident, capable young anglers. Our goal is to prepare students to join the Lanier Longhorn Fishing Team at the high school level with the skills, knowledge, and team spirit to succeed—on the water and in life.
Activities: Club members walk to nearby East Bank Park to fish and practice their angling skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. Students learn hands-on techniques while enjoying the outdoors, building friendships, and preparing for future competitive opportunities.
Affiliations: Student Anger Federation
Dues: $45 to cover supplies and student membership in the Student Angler Federation.

Gardening Club

Advisors: Pam Higgins and Karen Jones
Mission/Purpose: The purpose of the Gardening club is to provide students with opportunities to learn to cultivate various types of plants while collaborating with others. The mission is to learn and practice different gardening methods and apply those techniques and skills to enhance the appearance of our campus.
Activities: We will be learning about container gardening first intending to plant and maintain some container gardens around campus. We hope to eventually have a space to expand into a more formal gardening space.
Affiliations: Green and Healthy Schools program, Master Gardeners.
Intramurals

Sponsors: Coach Loveless & Coach Rabek
Intramurals are a great opportunity for students to have fun and be active before school. Students can participate in as many or as few sessions as is convenient; they are not required to attend every session. Students may not arrive before 8:05 and they MUST arrive by 8:15 to be allowed to enter the gym. Students MUST turn in a permission form before participating.

Kindness Club

Kindness Club Sponsor: Janan Olsen
Mission/Purpose:
Plant seeds of kindness, and watch them grow! This is our Kindness Club mantra as we are on a mission to initiate the spread of kindness to our local school, community, and world. Kindness Club students work hard to plant seeds of kindness by engaging in the needs around us as we express empathy and affirmation to those in our local school as well as our local community. Community spread ensures everyone is impacted by kindness, and we have many initiatives planned for this year that will affect not only our local school but that will also impact our community and even reach out to potentially meet needs on a more global scale.
Description of Planned Activities:
GLOBAL - Raise awareness of critical world needs in Kenya, Uganda, and Haiti via 410Bridge.org where students and teachers can donate online with their families by purchasing chickens, goats, and cows to help provide livelihood to families in these needy countries.
COMMUNITY – Donate to community food bank North Gwinnett Co-Op with holiday food drives and opportunities to volunteer with the food bank; Holbrook senior living in Sugar Hill opportunities to interact with the elderly with games, puzzles, and music
LOCAL SCHOOL – Empathy, affirmation, and assistance for our teachers, admin, and staff through our teacher helper program; random and intentional acts of kindness; sunshine boxes/baskets to express encouragement, empathy and/or condolences.

Science Fair

Mission / Purpose: The science fair encourages students to explore, design, and investigate scientific and engineering concepts through hands-on experimentation. By participating, students strengthen their problem-solving and communication skills, while gaining inspiration to pursue future careers in science and engineering. Students advancing from the Lanier Science Fair will have the opportunity to enter the Gwinnett Regional Science Fair and potentially advance to the state-level competition.
Description of Planned Activities: Science Fair meetings will be held in the mornings from 8:15 AM - 8:50 AM in Mrs. Shan's classroom in the 8th grade hallway.

STEM Bots Club

Mission: Lanier Middle School’s STEMbots mission is to introduce students to the world of robotics, using STEM skills and teamwork.
Purpose: The purpose of STEMbots is to develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and working as a team.
Planned Activities: STEMbots participate in local and state tournaments. We work with REC Foundation. For more info: recf.org

Mission Statement: The mission of the Lanier Middle School Guitar club is to foster a lifelong love for music by providing a supportive and engaging environment where students can explore their passion for guitar. Through collaboration, and consistent practice, members will refine their musical skills, develop confidence in their playing, and grow as well rounded musicians. Our club aims to inspire personal growth, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the art of music.
Planned Activities: The Lanier Middle School Guitar club plans to hold afterschool rehearsals in hopes to prepare for GCPS concerts and GMEA events.
