Lanier Middle School Community Service Program
Living in the city of Sugar Hill provides our students with some "sweet" opportunities. Lanier Middle School is launching this new program that leverages our students' pride for Sugar Hill by transforming this pride into actionable service - "Building Community through Service".
Building Community Through Service
Over the course of this school year, students will have at least 2 opportunities per semester to participate in service projects:
Semester 1
- September 21 | Shore Sweep
- October 18-20 | Sugar Rush
- October 21st - October 31st | Food Fight for the North Gwinnett Co-Op
Semester 2
- March 22nd | WE ARE LANIER
- May 3rd | Greeway Clean-up

Shore Sweep
Shore Sweep
Our first Community Service opportunity for our students will be the Shore Sweep at Lake Lanier. Students who register and show up to help sweep up in and around Lake Lanier will not only earn a Shore Sweep pin, but will also earn credit towards the Community Service Award given out at Awards Night in the spring.

Food Fight
Food Drive
Our next Community Service opportunity for our students will be the "Food Fight" from October 21st - October 31st. This is a competition between the Lanier Cluster and the Seckinger Cluster to see who can get the most donations of non-perishable food. For the Lanier Cluster all donations will benefit the North Gwinnett Co-Op.
To earn credit counting towards the Service Award, students will need to bring in a minimum of 3 items for the food drive. Peer Leaders will collect items at each elevator during the food drive window.
Non-perishable food items only.
Particular Items that are needed:
- Boxed Cereals
- Kid-friendly Snacks
- Canned Pineapple
- Canned Peaches
- Canned Pears
- Applesauce

WE ARE LANIER
WE ARE LANIER | A Community Event
March 22nd | 11 AM - 2 PM
WE ARE LANIER is a fun filled Free Community Cluster School event in downtown Sugar Hill. Students only need to attend and pick up a card from the Lanier Middle School Tent, sign it, and return it to their grade level counselor to earn credit.
